Fried Catfish
The secret to our special recipe for authentic Southern fish fry Fridays? Our Cornmeal Breading! This Fried Catfish recipe is the same one we use and serve in our Nashville kitchen. Inspired by Annie Loveless’s original recipe, it fries up perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside for true Southern flavor in every bite.

- Combine cornmeal and 2 cups all-purpose flour in a large mixing bowl.
- Pour mixture into a shallow pie plate or baking dish then pour ½ cup flour into a separate shallow dish.
- Preheat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Dredge catfish fillets in flour then press cornmeal mixture into the catfish on both sides.
- Working in batches, place catfish in hot skillet and fry on both sides until golden brown (approximately 5 minutes per side).
- Drain on paper towels before serving.
