What they say about us. . .

Everything they serve is great but my personal favorites are the biscuits, red eye gravy and country ham. Critic's Choice for Best Resurrection of an Institution:   Loveless Café
"For more than 50 years, the Loveless Café on Highway 100 was a destination for generations of Nashvillians and a who's-who of visiting celebrities and dignitaries.   Sadly, for the last decade, it had been mostly coasting on its reputation.   As the restaurant and other buildings on the motel property slipped into disrepair, the kitchen turned out increasingly inferior renditions of its famous hams, jams, biscuits and fried chicken.   Happily, Nashville native and caterer to the stars Tom Morales purchased the business and property late last year.   With the assistance of history-loving architect Seab Tuck, he has put the love back in the Loveless.   All prettied up - with a cheery addition on the back - the restaurant is once again serving up heaping platters of good old country cookin', and dishing out more memories for generations to come." Shannon HetzFor the past year, I have been commuting to Paducah, Kentucky via Nashville to teach Entertainment Law at the Barkley School of Law.  My only experience with the town was the airport.  When my wife and I were finally able to get a weekend away from our four little ones, we chose Nashville.  With so many attractions and restaurants, we could only choose a handful to dine at.  We had heard of the Loveless Cafe, but knew it was off the beaten path of central Nashville tourism.  We decided to go for it on our last day. Saving up our appetite, we took the quiet, peaceful and scenic Highway 100 to the cafe.  Upon arrival, it soon became evident that we had reached an oasis of country charm and comfort.  With a full house, we had to wait for a table.  The wait allowed us to peruse the delightful shops and alllow our appetite to brew.  The pager-buzzer went off causing my wife to jump mid-sentence in her conversation with the art curator, Ms. Cherry.  Quickly excusing ourselves, we scurried to the hostess who, with menus in hand, lead us to our final destination--the red and white checkered table in the back corner. During the walk, I couldn't help but notice the other guests, happily enjoying their prized menu items.

James HetzThe food was wonderful and evoked a very comfortable conversation between us--almost as if we were having a quiet homecooked dinner at home, alone.  Clearly under the influence of overindulgence, we discussed our trip, what we had seen in Nashville, and wondered how we were going to be able to extricate ourselves from our table, as we clearly should not have asked for a second round of Loveless biscuits.  Our intoxication also caused us to ponder one thing--should we move to Nashville?  After all we would be closer to the Loveless Cafe.

Hi Loveless Cafe-

My 4 kids and I embarked on a massive roadtrip this summer driving from Dallas, TX all the way up to Boston, MA. We stopped everywhere inbetween. We stopped on a whim at your place after seeing the exit on 40. What an awesome surpise was awaiting us! We were SO road weary by that point (on our way home after 3 weeks on the road!) and stopping there really lifted our spirits. Here are a couple of pics from our visit.

Thanks-

Just want to tell you, my friend Linda Pflugrad and I stopped for breakfast on our first morning in Nashville a couple of weeks ago and were delightfully surprised.  Your biscuits and gravy was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!  So were your homemade jams.  We enjoyed it so much that we came back before heading to the airport to return home.

You can be assured that next time we are in Nashville, we will have you on our list of 'must go' places!  Thought I'd share a photo of the two of us having breakfast at the Loveless Cafe.  Linda is on the left and I am on the right. Notice our BIG smiles.  :-)

Thanks for two great breakfasts!

My son and I just moved here from Las Vegas in October 2006. We had heard about your cafe on the news and radio.  So, on Sat. the 20th of Jan. we decided to take a  run out to your place.  And believe me, it was well worth it.  We had breakfast, and can't wait to get back for the fried chicken and ribs. In fact, we may go back tomorrow, that's how good it all was.  The biscuits were the best I've ever had.

Bravo! We (my wife and I) recently traveled to Nashville for my professional association's annual convention. It had been 12 years since we were in Nashville (back then, we lived in Huntsville, AL, and got up to see Music City quite a bit).

We stayed beyond the close of the convention so we could reacquaint ourselves with Nashville and to sample some new places we had missed back in 1994. One of the places we sought out was The Loveless Cafe. We are so pleased we did seek you and your folks and the establishment out.

We came over for Sunday breakfast (on Sunday, May 28) before heading out on the Natchez Trace Trail for the day. We called ahead for seating and when we
arrived, we were seated fairly quickly at a great table near to one of the porch doors. Our waitress (Gwen) was great (friendly, efficient, warm and welcoming). Our breakfasts were fabulous. They were served quickly and hot and were so good. The baking powder biscuits and preserves were so good. My wife had bacon and eggs with grits while I had the sausage and eggs with the hash browns. It was all good.

We had originally planned to hit the Trace and then amble our way back downtown to our hotel and eat nearby to Vanderbilt University. But as the day developed and went on, we began discussing returning to The Loveless for
supper. We did and it was equally fabulous.

This time we did not call ahead and we did not have to wait at all either. Coincidentally, we were seated at the same table (now considered to be "our table" for when we return again to Nashville and the cafe) and our waitress (this time Lindsey) was again super and top notch!

We ordered the Boneless Pork Chops (me) with Sweet Potatoes and Cream-Styled Corn) and the Fried Chicken (my wife) with Sweet Potatoes and Green Beans. It was all great including again the baking powdered biscuits. Mmmmm! Mmmmmm! Good!

Sadly, we enjoyed our main entrees and the biscuits so much; we had no room for dessert although we were tempted.

We just wanted to share with you how much we enjoyed our visits to The Loveless (and the gift shop). The food was fabulous as were your staff. It was so enjoyable. We were so pleased we returned for supper and we are
pleased to share with you how well you and your staff did in serving us well, filling us up and giving us some additional Nashville memories of our visit.

Thank you all so much. Keep up the great work and the fabulous food and service. We had such a great time (during both visits) that we are already trying to figure out when we can get back to Nashville again (it certainly will not be another 12 years between visits thanks to you and your staff).

Take care, stay well and continue your excellent efforts and offerings.

Sincerely,

Good Morning & Happy New Year!

Mike and I visited your cafe in mid-September 2005 while vacationing and visiting my husband's relatives on his mother's side.  We had supper with his cousin and her husband one night and it was DELICIOUS!  Ms. Carol Fay's cookin' is mighty scrumptious!  My husband was born in Nashville but reared in California since he was about 3 or 4 years old.  This has been my second visit to Tennessee and have enjoyed your warm and gracious hospitality.  Thank you again for such a fine meal.  Will be back again soon.

Regards,

Mary M. Feryan

Just had to let you people know how your establishment is a "memory" for my wife and me. Today marks our 46th wedding anniversary. The memory? ...We spent our wedding night at your motel! I was discharged from the Marines in 1959 (stationed at Clarksville Base). Married a Nashville girl. Best move I ever made.

Three years ago, we stopped to eat in the cafe. The motel may not be open, but you still have great food. We have a Loveless Motel magnet on our fridge! We wish you the best! God bless you all.

Recently I was in Nashville for a week attending a conference for work. I was on the phone to a friend of mine who lives in Memphis and he said, you have to drive to the Loveless Cafe and have some chicken! Living in Las Vegas I don't often get a chance to have southern cooking! So off I went to the Loveless. As soon as I drove up I knew I was going to love the place. It's so cute and charming. I ordered up the fried chicken, potatoes and sweet corn. I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I tasted the biscuits! Those were yummy! And the sweet tea, the best I ever had! Needless to say, I haven't had chicken that good since my Great Grandma passed. Kudos to the chef! I thought it was so good, I drove back for the watermelon ribs on Wednesday. WOW, all I can say is ....awesome!

Thanks to my friend Bill who told me this was a must see for me and to order the chicken.
If you haven't been to the Loveless......you are missing something special!
